Baton Rouge's Premier Live Art Auction, KINETICS, returns to Baton Rouge Gallery every November. Located inside BREC's historic City Park (1515 Dalrymple Drive), the event celebrates the energy of contemporary art, specifically in Louisiana's capital city, providing a chance for arts supporters, business leaders and community members to share their passion for the visual arts while bidding on more than 30 original works from some of the region's most talented and prolific artists.
On November 9, 2012, BRG welcomed over 300 guests for this unique event, raising over $28,000 to support the gallery and its artist members. The event included special guesst auctioneers Casey Phillips (BR Walls / The Force Agency) & Jared Loftus (College District) and music from alternative jazz outfit Hazy Ray.
KINETICS 2012 was sponsored by John G. Turner & Jerry G. Fischer, Michael D. Robinson & Donald J. Boutte, Kean Miller, Republic Finance, Coleman Partners Architechts, Launch Media and Milton J. Womack General Contractors.
The highlight of the evening, the KINETICS live auction, featured more than 30 works of original art from BRG Artist Members up for bid with bidding opening at just $100 for every work.

Each year, KINETICS also boasts a diverse and expansive silent auction prior to the live auction. This year's silent auction included over 40 different items up for bid including travel accommodations, portrait sittings with BRG artists, jewelry, tickets to some of the area's best upcoming live performances, art-related gifts, home accents, and much more.
This fun and fast-paced auction offers you the chance to start your art collection or find the perfect piece to add to it with bidding opening at just $100 for every single work being auctioned off.
In addition to the live auction, KINETICS also sees the raffling off of a great piece of contemporary art each year. In
2012, the gallery raffled off a stunning work by the only current artist on its roster of members who has been there from day one: James Burke. One lucky winner took home Burke's 2006 painting (pictured to the right) "Portage #2" (16" x 15"), which has a retail value of $2,250! Only 500 raffle tickets were made available.
For more than 45 years now, BRG has served as a hub of contemporary art in the greater Baton Rouge area. It is home to some of the biggest names in local contemporary art and works to connect the public with the very best emerging and established artists in our region. Last year alone, more than 15,000 visitors experienced local, contemporary art at BRG through a wide array of exhibitions, programs and events. In addition, national and regional juried exhibitions, a cutting-edge national video art showcase, numerous lectures, performances and more make BRG one of the most exciting and engaging arts venues in the region.
